Eastern ConnectionsFrom the eastern end of the Old Plank Road Trail at Western Avenue you can make connections with other parks, trails, and bikeways. Thorn Creek Trail (South)Get off the OPRT at Orchard Street or Western Avenue and go south about a half mile to Westwood Drive. Then go a mile east on Westwood to reach Thorn Creek Trail (South). Westwood in Park Forest changes names as it crosses into Chicago Heights where it is called 26th Street. |

Thorn Creek Trail (North)The northern section of the Thorn Creek Trail is about 4 miles east and 3 miles north of the eastern end of the OPRT. One of the easier access routes is via Westwood Drive (26th St.) and State Street. Get off the OPRT at Orchard Street or Western Avenue and go south about a half mile to Westwood Drive. Then go 3 to 3-1/2 miles east on Westwood (26th St in Chicago Heights) to State Street. Travel north 3-1/2 miles on State Street to Main Street (Glenwood Lansing Rd) and turn right. Go 1 mile and Thorn Creek Trail North will be on the north side of the road. |
